The GFCSD Backpack Program is completely donation-funded. Every monetary and food donation directly supports local students and families facing food insecurity within the Glens Falls City School District.

Because of the generosity of our community, we are able to provide weekly food bags to more than 200 students throughout the district each year.

Our mission is simple: no child should go hungry when school is not in session.

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations allow us to purchase the specific kid-friendly food items most needed for our program. Donations also help support larger break bags during holidays, school vacations, and summer months.

Food Donations

We gladly accept donations of kid-friendly, easy-to-open, nonperishable food items. We especially appreciate items that students can prepare independently and that do not require access to a full kitchen.

Most needed items include:

• Mac and cheese cups

• Oatmeal packets

• Granola bars

• Cereal cups

• Fruit cups

• Applesauce pouches

• Microwaveable meals

• Peanut butter crackers

• Juice boxes

• Snack items

Food Drives

Schools, businesses, organizations, and community groups interested in organizing a food drive are always welcome to contact us.
