The Glens Falls City School District Backpack Program provides kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare food to Glens Falls students who face food insecurities at home.   Many of the students in our district rely on the food provided at school as their main source of food.  We help bridge that gap when school is not open.  Our mission is that no child faces a weekend without access to food.  We provide larger bags of food during school breaks, including summer. We usually have close to 200 kids, in grades prek-12, in the program each year. The food bags go home on Thursdays with students. We have weekly volunteers that help with the packing and delivering the bags to each of our schools. The program is completely donation based. Both food donations as well as monetary donations are always welcome.
